No Montague nor Capulet
Would dare trade parts with me –
For though the stars did rail against,
Their love at whiles ran free.
I have long burn’d intemperate,
Took pains to prick my heart.
Dreams were let to rule over all
While stomping out my part.
So Mercutio’s role falls to me,
To fall beside the way.
And if the lovers pass me by,
They’ll forgive me if I say,

“A plague o’ both your houses.”

I hate to think how I shall burn
To dwell thus on them;
But I am daily made aware,
They have my dreams condemn’d.
They’ve branded all my senses with
Their wild licentious ways –
And the stars rail’d against you? No!
But for you! You your selves betray’d.
Oh, take these lies away from me,
You Juliet, you Romeo;
You both have poisoned love, and I
Must rail against you so –

“A plague o’ both your houses.”
